Time for more empty posturing with Kennedy and Dean taking the lead! Kennedy's Meandering
Michael McGough of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette relayed some of Senator Kennedy's bumblings at a reporter roundtable meeting. Kennedy claimed the "Goldwater Presidency" was an inspiration to a young Alito; that Alito lived a life of extremism and "incredibility". However Kennedy, desiring to appear thoughtful, maintained he hadn't made up his mind to vote for this "threat to the republic". But Kennedy (a career government worker) remained critical of "this nominee whose sole employer was the federal government" Howard Dean also provides his usual humorous spin in the Baltimore Sun. He accuses the administration of playing politics instead of doing what is right for America. Arguments like this deserve a response of "I know you are but what am I?"
Dean's Spin
Dean continues to portray Alito as "ethically tone deaf" supporting gross sexual harassment, strip searching 10 year olds, and constructing white juries to try black defendants. That's right! Alito is a corrupt evil conservative! After he has made that connection he goes on to connect Alito to all the other mean deeds of the "vast right wing conspiracy". Dean even throws in a Haliburton, illegal spying, Tom Delay money laundering, Cheney indictment and other favorite Democratic trumped up woes.
